• Apply through Embassy
Yemen is one of the few countries which does not have an Embassy of Vietnam. This make the embassy procedure complicated for Yemen citizens. If you wish to go through the embassy, you will have to contact embassies of Vietnam in neighbouring countries. This can lead to quite a bit of expenditure as you may have to travel to the embassy location several times. When applying through the embassy, you are required to fill in an application form in English and submit it along with a recent passport size photograph, a self addressed envelope and your original passport. If you do not wish to travel to the embassy location, you may have to send all these documents, including your original passport, to the nearest embassy location by post.
This idea doesn’t appeal to a lot of people as the documents are too valuable to be sent by postal mail. There are high chances that your packet gets misplaced and you lose your documents. It is for this reason that the Visa on Arrival process is considered to be ideal for Yemen citizens. It is easier, faster and much more affordable as compared to the embassy process.
• Apply for Visa on Arrival
Visa on Arrival is the ideal choice for Yemen citizens wishing to travel to Vietnam. You can fill up the form online from any location and you will also receive the approval letter faster. When filing up the form for Visa on Arrival, you will be asked to fill in all your personal details and state the purpose of your visit. Depending on your nature of visit, you will be issued either a business visa or a tourist visa or a transit visa. The business Visa has a validity of one month, three months and six months. The tourist Visa has a validity of one month and the transit Visa comes with a validity of less than five days.
So if you are a traveller who has to stop by in Vietnam while travelling, you have five days to fly out. If you stay over for more than five days, you will have to move to a third country.
It is important that you fill in all details accurately. Once the form is processed, you will be issued a letter of approval by the Vietnamese Immigration department. Your travel agent can collect this letter for you and forward it to you. On entering Vietnam, you will have to submit this letter of approval at the Visa on Arrival counter along with the Visa stamping fees and collect your Visa.
It is to be remembered that the Visa on Arrival facility is only applicable to those who arrive in Vietnam by air.
