When applying through the embassy you will be required to fill up a form with all your details. To apply for Visa, you will have to hold a valid, original Taiwanese passport. Make sure your passport has a validity of at least six months beyond your date of departure from Vietnam. It should also have a few spare pages for stamping purpose. Once you have filled the form, you will have to submit it along with your original passport, one recent passport size photograph and a self addressed envelope.
The embassy will take about five working days to process your documents. You will also have to submit the Visa fees. The Visa fees can be paid to the Embassy of Vietnam by way of money order or cashier’s cheque. Once the documents are processed, you will be issued the Visa in a self addressed envelope. The major benefit of applying for Visa through the embassy is that you get a fully stamped document before leaving for Vietnam.
However, there are a few disadvantages of this procedure too. If you live in a place which is far away from the embassy location, you will have to waste a lot of time travelling back and forth. Also, you will be required to submit your original documents, which will be forwarded ahead by postal mail. There are good chances of loss due to misplacement of postal mail. If you want to avoid these problems, you can easily apply for Visa on Arrival online.
• Apply for Visa on Arrival
Visa on Arrival is a convenient and easy procedure. You will have to get in touch with a reliable travel agent in Vietnam for this procedure. You will have to fill in an online application and make the payment to the travel agent online. Once this is done, you will have to wait a couple of days for your form to get processed. Once your form is processed, you will be issued a letter of approval. This letter of approval can be collected by your travel agent and forwarded to you.
On reaching a Vietnam airport, you can submit this letter of approval at the Visa on Arrival counter of the airport. You will also have to pay the Visa stamping fees at the counter to collect your Visa. It is important to remember that the Visa on Arrival facility is extended to only those who arrive in Vietnam by air.
