In this method, first of all, you will have to fill the Visa application form at the Embassy. This filled form along with your one recent passport sized photograph, one self-addressed envelope, and a recent passport should be submitted at the Embassy for further formalities. Also to this submission, you will be required to pay the Visa fees. You can pay this fee in the favor of Embassy of Vietnam either via money order or through cashier’s check. At least five working days of the Embassy will be consumed in processing these documents. After the successful processing of your submitted documents, the Embassy will issue you a fully stamped Visa.
This method owns the advantage that the applicant gets hold of a fully stamped Visa before leaving for Vietnam. There are some disadvantages also. You will have to spend a good amount on your travel and stay as a considerable distance separates Solapur and Delhi. Also, the whole process involves applicant’s multiple visits to the Embassy until its completion. And if you apply through correspondence which includes sending your documents through postal mail, there is always a risk of losing the documents in case your package get misplaced or lost in the shipment.

A much easier and convenient method for getting a Visa to Vietnam is to go for the Visa on Arrival option. This option requires you to get in touch with a Vietnam-based travel agent. After locating a reliable agent, you will have to fill and submit the online application form available at his/her website. The form includes various fields collecting information such as your name, duration of stay, occupation, purpose of visit and much more of the same kind. You will have to fill the purpose of visit section by choosing from options such as tourist, business and transit. All these options come with different validities. Business Visa endows you with a validity of one month or three months or six months. A tourist Visa provides you with the validity of one month whereas transit Visa is applicable for less than five days only.
A letter of approval is issued to you after the processing of online application form. Your travel agent will collect this letter of approval on your behalf and forward the same to you. The time you reach Vietnam, you are required to submit this letter of approval at Visa on Arrival counter of your landing airport. Along with the submission of this letter, you are also required to make payments for Visa stamping fee.
This option is available for only those travelers who arrive in Vietnam by air. All other travelers who are either following the land or water route are required to carry all their necessary documents with them while traveling.
