You can personally visit the embassy to fill in your application form for Visa. You will have to submit your original Nigerian passport, recent passport size photographs and a self-addressed envelope. The procedure is quite simple and after you have submitted the documents, you will have to make the payment for the Visa fees. The embassy will take about five working days to process your documents and you will receive your Visa shortly.
Besides the submission of relevant documents, you will also have to pay the Visa fees. These fees can easily be paid to the embassy via money order or cashier cheque.
This procedure has its own advantages and drawbacks. The advantage is that you will get your Visa in hand by the time you are ready to leave for Vietnam. The disadvantages are quite a few comparatively. If you are not residing in a location that is close to the embassy, you will have to make quite a few visits because the procedure requires you to make multiple visits till the process is complete. This requires investment of time and energy. Also, you will have to submit your original passport, which faces the biggest danger of being lost due to postal misplacement. If you do not have the time or do not want to send in your original document, you should opt for the Visa on Arrival facility.
• Apply for Visa on Arrival
Visa on Arrival is preferred by most travellers because of the convenience it offers. You do not have to personally visit the embassy. You can get in touch with a travel agent based in Vietnam to help you fill up an online form which will require your personal and professional details. You will also be required to pay the Visa fees and the travel agent’s service charges, which can be deposited online easily.
Once you have keyed in all the information, your travel agent will forward you an approval letter collected from the embassy. This letter of approval can be submitted at any Vietnamese airport, where you are landing along with the stamping fees to collect your Visa.
It is to be noted the Visa on Arrival facility is extended only to travellers who enter Vietnam via the air route. If you are taking the land route, you will have the carry your Visa along with the passport with you. If you are on a cruise ship, you can check with the cruise ship authorities for more information on Visa on Arrival.
