• Apply through the embassy
If you decide to travel to a neighboring country to apply for Visa through the embassy, you will have to bear the expenses on travel and accommodation. At the embassy, you will be guided through a step by step procedure on the filling up of necessary forms, submission of relevant documents and payment of mandatory fees. You will have to fill up the Visa application form and submit one recent passport sized photograph, one self-addressed envelope and your original passport. Along with the documents, you will have to pay the Visa fees. These fees can be paid in favor of the Embassy of Vietnam by way of money order or cashier’s check.
The embassy will take at least five working days to process your documents. Once the documents are processed, you will be issued a fully stamped Visa. The major benefit of applying for Visa through the embassy is that you will have a fully stamped Visa in your hands before your departure to Vietnam. However, this procedure is time consuming and expensive.
In case, you decide to apply for Visa through correspondence, you will have to send in all your documents to the embassy location by postal mail. This can be quite risky as you stand to lose all your documents if your package is misplaced or lost in transit.
• Apply for Visa on Arrival
Hence the easiest process to apply for Visa for Macau citizens is to apply for Visa on Arrival. To apply for Visa on Arrival you will have to get in touch with a travel agent based in Vietnam. You will be required to fill an online application form on the agent’s website. You will have to fill in details such as your name, occupation, duration of stay and purpose of visit. While filling the purpose of visit section, you will have to choose from options such as business, tourist and transit.
A business Visa gets you validity of one month, three months and six months. A tourist Visa allows you a validity of one month and transit Visa allows you a validity of less than five days.
Usually, online applications are processed in two or three days. You will be issued a letter of approval after your form is processed. On reaching Vietnam, you will have to submit this letter of approval at the Visa on Arrival counter of the airport you arrive in.
It is to be noted that the Visa on Arrival facility is extended only to those travelers who arrive in Vietnam by air.
