• Apply through Embassy or Consulate
Vietnam has its embassy in Indonesia to offer consular services. Any Indonesian citizen who wishes to collect his Visa exemption document or extended Visa document can reach out to the officials at the embassy. The address of the embassy is as follows:
Jl. Teuku Umar. No 25,
Jakarta Pusat, Jakarta
Telephone: 3100358
jakarta@mofa.gov.vn or vietnamemb@yahoo.com
The officials at the embassy will take you through a step by step procedure to help you with the application filling process and the payment of required fees. The advantage of applying through the embassy is that you get the Visa in your hand before your departure to Vietnam. However, there are certain disadvantages too. If you are located at a place which is far away from the embassy location, you will have to travel all the way to the embassy and then fill up your forms. Plus, you will have to pay multiple visits to complete the procedure. If you are located in a far flung area and do not have the time to make multiple visits or would not prefer sending your passport through postal mail, you should opt for the Visa on Arrival facility.
• Apply for Visa on Arrival
Visa on Arrival is considered to be an easier and quicker way of getting your Visa. This procedure will require you to fill up an online form with your personal details, occupation, purpose of visit, duration of stay etc. To fill up the online application, you will have to get in touch with a travel agent based in Vietnam. Once the information is processed, an approval letter will be issued. This approval letter can be collected by your agent and mailed to you. You will have to present this approval letter along with your passport and required fees to collect your Visa.
It is important to note that the Visa on Arrival facility is available only to those who arrive in Vietnam by air. For those using land routes to enter Vietnam, the Visa needs to be fixed along with the passport and should be carried along while travelling. In case you are travelling in a cruise ship, get in touch with the cruise authorities to know more about Visa on Arrival.
It is mandatory to carry all necessary documents while travelling to Vietnam. The lack of proper documents can lead to denial of entry into the country and immediate deportation. Apart from the documents submitted, you will also have to pay the Visa fees, which can be paid by cheque or money order to the Embassy of Vietnam.
