You can contact any of these embassies for the necessary forms for applying for Visa. In this case, you will have to personally visit the embassy several times to apply, pick up your Visa etc. If you are someone who does not have enough time to spare for such multiple visits because of the distance or work related pressure, applying through the embassy or consulate may not be adVisable. If you live in a country where there is no consulate or embassy, you may have to travel to a location where a Vietnamese embassy is present and apply for Visa. But this can lead to a lot of expenditure and waste of time. In such a scenario, you can apply for Visa on Arrival or VoA online.
• Apply for Visa on Arrival
The other method of obtaining Visa to Vietnam is by applying online for a Visa on arrival. For easy and quick Visa application, you can log on to http://www.vnembassy.net/ and apply for Visa on Arrival. You can apply online to get an approval letter which can later on by presented at the Vietnam international airports to obtain your Visa. You will have to state your purpose of visit to get hold of your Visa approval letter:
1. Business purpose: This Visa is approved for a period of one month or three months or six months.
2. Tourist purpose: This Visa is approved for a period of one month
3. Transit purpose: Passengers are allowed a Visa for transit purpose for a period of less than 5 days. After a period of 5 days, the passengers must depart to a third country.
However, there are a few things that you would need to keep in mind. If you plan to arrive by land route in Vietnam, you will have to obtain Visa beforehand. Visa on Arrival will not be applicable in case you are using the land route to enter Vietnam. If you are using the sea route or a cruise ship, you can contact the cruise ship officials to know about Visa procedures.
