• Apply through the embassy
Any Chilean citizen or passport holder who wishes to travel to Vietnam can contact the embassy officials or visit the Embassy of Vietnam in Chile for Visa application. The Embassy of Vietnam in Chile is located at:
Eliodoro Yáñez 2897, Providencia, Santiago de Chile
Telephone: (56 2) 2 244 3633/2 244 3755
E-mail: sqvnchile@mofa.gov.vn
At the embassy, you will be guided by the embassy officials on the application process. You will have to fill up the Visa application form and submit it along with a recent passport sized photograph, a self-addressed envelope and your original passport. You will also be required to pay the Visa fees. These fees can be paid to the Embassy of Vietnam by way of money order or cashier’s cheque. Once the form is filled and the document submitted, it will be forwarded ahead for processing.
The embassy will take about five working days to process your documents. Once the documents are processed, you will be issued a fully stamped Visa. This is one of the biggest benefits of applying through the embassy – you will receive a fully stamped Visa in your hands before your departure to Vietnam. However, there are certain drawbacks to this system too. It is time consuming, will cost you more and you will have to send your documents through postal mail. In addition, you will have to travel back and forth to the embassy location several times before the process is complete. An easier, faster and more affordable option to this system is the Visa on Arrival system.
• Apply for Visa on Arrival
To apply for Visa on Arrival, you will have to get in touch with a travel agent based in Vietnam. You will be required to fill up an online application on the travel agent’s website and pay the Visa fees and the service charges of the agent through online transfer. While filling up the online application, you will have to key in details such as your name, occupation, dates of travel, purpose of travel etc. You can choose from options such as business, tourist and transit while filling up the purpose of visit section. Business Visa comes with a validity of one month, three months and six months. Tourist Visa offers a validity of one month and transit Visa offers a validity of less than five days.
Once the form is filled, it will be submitted for processing. After the processing is done, you will be issued a letter of approval. This letter of approval can be submitted along with Visa stamping fees at the Visa on Arrival counter of the airport you arrive in to collect the Visa document.
It is to be noted that the Visa on Arrival facility is extended to only those travelers who arrive in Vietnam by air.
