If travelling to a neighbouring country is not possible, you can write into the embassy and check if the Visa application process is possible on mail. However, this is a long drawn process and will result in the incurring of expenses and waste of time. You can apply for Visa through the online application process for Visa on Arrival. Visa on Arrival is a far more convenient process which allows you to apply for Visa from any location. In order to apply for Visa on Arrival, you will have to get in touch with a travel agent based in Vietnam.
You will have to apply online and key in all your details such as purpose of visit, duration of stay, dates of travel and return etc. While stating your purpose of visit, you will have to choose from three options – business, tourist and transit. The business Visa comes with a validity of one month, three months and six months. The tourist Visa offers a validity of one month and transit Visa offers a validity of less than five days. Once the form is filled, you will have to wait for a few days till your form is processed.
After the form is processed, you will be issued a letter of approval. Your travel agent can collect this letter of approval on your behalf. On reaching Vietnam, you can submit this letter of approval at the Visa on Arrival counter at the airport you arrive in. You will also have to submit Visa stamping fees along with the letter of approval to collect your Visa.
It is important that you state the right activity you are about to undertake in Vietnam. Make sure you choose the right category to avoid getting into trouble. To apply for the Visa, you need a valid and original Afghan passport. The passport should have a validity of six months and a few spare pages for stamping. Also, you will be required to pay Visa fees during the application process. This amount can be transferred to the travel agent online.
It is important to note that the Visa on Arrival facility is available to only those who arrive in Vietnam by air. Those who are travelling to Vietnam by land must obtain the Visa beforehand and carry it along with them while travelling.
