If you are a citizen of Senegal and wish to travel to Vietnam, you can either visit the Embassy of Vietnam in the neighboring country personally or inquire over the telephone or over e-mail, if the Visa application process can be facilitated over postal mail.
In case you decide to visit the Embassy of Vietnam in a neighboring country personally, you will have to incur huge costs as this procedure will require you to make repeated visits till the process is complete. On applying through the embassy, you will be asked to fill the Visa application form and submit a self-addressed envelope, one recent passport sized photograph and your original passport along with the form. You will also be required to pay the Visa fees, which can be paid in favor of the Embassy of Vietnam by way of money order or cashier’s cheque.
The embassy takes at least five working days to process all documents. Once the documents are processed, you will be issued a fully stamped Visa. Although this method allows you to get a fully stamped Visa before you depart for Vietnam, it is too expensive and time consuming.
If in case, you decide to apply for Visa through the embassy by correspondence you will have to send in all your documents visa postal mail, including your original passport. The passport is too valuable a document to be sent across via postal mail. In case of loss of your package in transit or due to misplacement, you could lose your passport.
Hence, the ideal option for citizens of Senegal to apply for Visa to Vietnam is the Visa on Arrival method. In order to apply for Visa on Arrival, you will have to contact a reliable travel agent in Vietnam who can help you fill the Visa application form online. You will have to key in details such as your name, occupation, travel dates, duration of stay, purpose of visit etc. While filling in the purpose of visit section, you will have to choose from options such as business, tourist and transit. A business Visa will give you validity of one month, three months or six months. A tourist Visa will give you a validity of one month and transit Visa comes with a validity of less than five days.
Once the form is filled, it will be submitted for processing. After the form is submitted, you will be issued a letter of approval. This letter of approval needs to be submitted at the Visa on Arrival counter of the airport you arrive in. You will also have to submit the Visa stamping fees along with the letter of approval for your Visa on Arrival.
