The procedure for applying for Visa for Indian citizens is quite simple. Any Indian citizen who wishes to travel to Vietnam should hold an original Indian passport with at least one month validity from the date of leaving for Vietnam. Other requirements include a completed application to Vietnam, one passport size photo, Visa fees clearance and a prepaid self-addressed envelope with tracking number.
Any Indian citizen who holds all the necessary documents can approach either the embassy or an online travel agent to initiate the Visa process. On approaching the embassy or consulate, an individual will be taken through a step by step process for Visa application. By applying through the embassy you can get the Visa document before you travel. However, there are drawbacks in this procedure. You will have to personally go to the embassy for applying for Visa. This becomes a difficulty if there is no embassy in your location. Also, if you are someone who has a very hectic schedule and cannot spare time for multiple visits, applying through the embassy will not be the ideal choice.
The other way to apply for Visa easily is through online application. You will have to get in touch with a reputed travel agent who can help you fill up the application. Anyone who fills up the online application form is asked to fill up details such as name, occupation, purpose of visit, duration of stay etc. After all these details are filled, an approval letter is issued which is to be submitted at Vietnam airport on arrival to collect Visa on Arrival.
In the light of a few unpleasant incidents that have taken place in the recent years, the regulations have been made a bit stricter for Indian citizens. Earlier copy of the Indian passport wasn’t required at the Visa on Arrival counter. According to the latest regulations for Visa on Arrival, an Indian citizen would have to submit a copy of his original Indian passport and copy of his return ticket with an airline along with the approval letter to receive the Visa on Arrival.
The Visa fees also need to be paid to the travel agent. Apart from this Indian travellers will have to submit Visa stamping fees along with the letter of approval at the Visa on Arrival counter to receive their Visa document.
The Visa on Arrival facility is applicable only to those who arrive in Vietnam by air. For all those who take land routes to Vietnam, it is mandatory that they collect their Visa prior to departure. In case an individual is travelling in a cruise ship, he can contact the ship authorities regarding the Visa on Arrival procedure.
