The traditional approach of getting a visa is through an embassy but Nauru does not have a Vietnam embassy making the process tricky. The overall process is outline below:
Applying for an embassy visa:
1) Select the embassy in the neighboring country where you will apply for a visa. Each country has a slightly different process. If you go through all the different procedure, it will help you to select the embassy that would be the most convenient to you. The comprehensive list of countries with Vietnam embassies is available on their website. There are Vietnam embassies in the neighboring countries of Australia, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, etc.
2) Even with these differences the basic steps remain the same. Fill the application form, some embassies allow online submission of application form. Affix the photo and send the application form along with the required documents. Select a reliable international postal service which allows tracking of the deliverables, as you will have to trust them with your original documents.
3) A processing fee is applicable; this depends on the type of visa on the duration of the stay. Enquire about the acceptable currency and the amount before applying.
4) Once the embassy receives the application, the process is completed with 5-7 days. It may take additional days depending on the speed of the postal service.
5) Along with the application, enclose a prepaid envelope so that the visa can be mailed to you.
6) Once you receive the visa, check it for any errors and if there are any, contact the embassy.
7) This visa is applicable for all routes of travel- air, water and land.
The process for getting an embassy visa is tiresome and time consuming. Hence you may go for an easier alternative that is, applying for a Visa on Arrival. This is an easier, faster and economical process. The entire process is based online and all you have to do is fill an application form and pay the processing fee. We take care of the rest of the process and communicate with the immigration department. An approval letter sent by the immigration department is enough for you to land at the major airports like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City or Da Nang. The entire process takes only 2- 3 days. It is a stress free process as you don’t have to submit any documents.
