To add to the convenience factor in Visa application, the Visa on Arrival system was launched. To avail of this scheme, an individual has to apply through a reputed travel agent online for Visa approval. Post application he will be sent an approval letter via mail, which will have to be submitted at any of the Vietnam airports on arrival for Visa on Arrival. The Visa on Arrival is a document which is as much in value as a fully stamped Visa document.
However, to apply for a Visa to Vietnam, an Indian citizen is required to have the following:
• Original Passport with at least one month validity from the date of leaving for Vietnam
• Completed application form for Visa to Vietnam
• One passport size photo
• Visa fee paid by money order or cheque to the Embassy of Vietnam
• Prepaid self addressed envelope with tracking number
The Visa on Arrival is applicable only if you are arriving in Vietnam by air. If you are planning to reach Vietnam by road or sea, you will have to obtain a Visa beforehand. If you are on a cruise ship, you can get in touch with the authorities to know about Visa procedures.
Visa Processing Fees
Apart from the travel agent’s charges, you will have to submit Visa processing fees online to get the approval letter. The charges depend on the purpose of your visit and the duration of your stay. It also depends on the fact whether you want a single or a multiple entry Visa. For a period of 30 days or 90 days single entry Visa, you may be charged as much as $45. The rates differ as the duration of stay and number of people travelling increases.
The Visa processing fee is paid electronically or bank transfer to the travel agent to get the approval letter, which is issued by the Immigration department. The stamping fee is paid in cash to the Immigration officer, once you have arrived at the Visa on Arrival counter to collect your Visa. You can pay these fees either in USD or VND.
The Visa on Arrival procedure has become more popular among travellers all across the globe because of the sheer convenience it offers.
It is to be noted that the Visa on Arrival facility is extended to only those travellers who arrive in Vietnam by air. For those taking land routes, it is important that they carry all relevant documents along with them while travelling.
