If you hold a Finnish passport and wish to apply for Visa to Vietnam, you can contact the Embassy of Vietnam in Finland. At the embassy, you will be taken through a step by step procedure on filling up required forms, payment of mandatory fees and submission of relevant documents. You will be asked to fill the Visa application form in English and mention the place of collection and submission of the Visa as Vietnam. Along with the duly filled form, you will have to submit one recent passport size photograph, one self-addressed envelope and your original passport. It is mandatory for a person to hold a valid and original passport in order to apply for Visa through the embassy. Besides, submitting the documents, you will also have to pay the Visa fees. You can pay the amount in favor of the Embassy of Vietnam by way of cashier’s check or money order.
The embassy will take at least five working days to process your documents. Once your documents are processed, you will be issued a fully stamped Visa. Although this procedure allows you to collect your Visa prior to your departure to Vietnam, there are some drawbacks. Firstly, you will have to travel back and forth to the embassy location several times as this procedure requires the applicant to pay multiple visits before the process is complete. Plus, all your documents, including your original passport, will be forwarded by postal mail. This poses the threat of loss of documents if your package is misplaced or lost in transit.
The easier and more convenient way for Visa application is the Visa on Arrival process. To apply for Visa on Arrival, you will have to get in touch with a travel agent based in Vietnam. You will be asked to fill up an online application form on the travel agent’s website. In the form, you will have to enter details such as your name, address, occupation, purpose of visit, duration of stay etc. When filling up the purpose of visit section, you will have to choose from options such as business, tourist and transit. A business Visa allows a validity of one month, three months and six months. A tourist Visa allows a validity of one month and transit Visa offers validity of less than five days.
Online applications are usually processed in a couple of days. Once your form is processed, you will be issued a letter of approval. This letter of approval is to be submitted at the Visa on Arrival counter of the airport you arrive in. You will also have to pay the Visa stamping fees along with the letter of approval to collect your Visa on Arrival.
