If you visit the embassy of a neighboring country, you will be asked to fill up the Visa application form in English. In the form, you will have to mention the place of collection and submission of the Visa as Vietnam. Along with the duly filled form, you will have to submit a recent passport size photograph, a self-addressed envelope and your original passport. Make sure your passport has a validity of at least six months and a few spare pages for stamping. Besides submitting the documents, you will also be required to submit the Visa fees, which can be paid to the Embassy of Vietnam through money order or cashier’s cheque.
The embassy will take at least five days to process your documents. Once the documents are processed, you will be issued a fully stamped Visa in the self-addressed envelope you had submitted. It is to be noted that the Visa issued by the embassy is usually of single entry. If you wish to get a multiple entry Visa, you will have to mention the same in your form and pay additional fees. This process is inconvenient as it is expensive and time consuming.
In case you wish to apply for the process through correspondence, you will have to send in your documents through postal mail. In such a scenario, you stand to lose your valuable documents such as passport, in case of misplacement or loss of your package in transit.
The ideal way to apply for Visa for citizens of Burundi is the Visa on Arrival process. In order to apply for Visa on Arrival, you will have to get in touch with a travel agent based in Vietnam. You will have to fill an online application form on the agent’s website and pay the fees and service charges through online transfer. While filling the form, you will be asked to choose from options such as business, tourist and transit while filling the purpose of visit section. A business Visa gives you validity of one month, three months or six months. A tourist Visa gives you validity of one month and transit Visa gives you validity of less than five days.
After your online application form is processed, you will be issued a letter of approval. This letter of approval can be collected by your travel agent and have it sent to you. On reaching Vietnam, you can submit this letter of approval along with the Visa stamping fees at the Visa on Arrival counter of the airport you arrive in.
It is to be noted that the Visa on Arrival process is available only to those travelers who arrive in Vietnam by air. For those taking land routes, it is mandatory that they carry all their documents with them while traveling. In case of a cruise ship, the cruise authorities can provide information on Visa on Arrival.
