How to renew my Vietnam Visa while staying in Vietnam

You may be staying in Vietnam and may want to renew your Vietnam visa. You really do not know how to go about it. Different people tell you different things. So, what should you do? Simply, read on…

You can renew your Vietnam visa while living in Vietnam in two different ways. It is easier to renew your Vietnam visa in a large city such as Ho Chi Minh City, or Hanoi, and so on. You can either hire a reputed travel agency to renew your Vietnam visa, or then do it yourself. Some services charge you from US $ 40 to US 160, depending upon for how long you want to renew your visa and also what type of visa you want -- either single entry or multiple entry.

Your renewal application for a Vietnam visa takes about five working days to process. If you prefer to do it on your own, you first need to download the application form for visa renewal, replacement or modification, or length of stay extension. This form is Form N14/M. Once you fill in the form you need to attach it to your passport and then bring both in person to the Immigration Office. The address of the Vietnam Department of Immigration is:

161, Nguyen Du, Ben Thanh Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City

You may also be sponsored or invited to stay longer in Vietnam. In such cases a certification signature from the chief of the receiving sponsoring agency of organization of the application or of the Chief Police of the Ward/Commune where the sponsor resides is required. It costs you from US $ 25 to US $ 100 for renewing a visa depending upon your length of stay. If you are not clear what to choose, you can ask the officers for an explanation.

Do not forget to ask for a receipt when submitting your documents at the Immigration Office. On the due date, do bring your receipt and personal ID to get back your passport with the new visa.

If you want to renew your Vietnam visa at an embassy of Vietnam in the country where you are living, you will need the following documents:
